Dénia is one of Costa Blanca's most popular resorts, with an ancient core which retains all its historic charm in its cobbled streets and the Fisherman's Quarter, but with all the life and facilities of a modern resort based around seven long, sandy beaches which are perfect for swimming, snorkelling and other watersports. Las Marinas, Les Bovetes, L'Almadrava and Els Palmars are the most family-friendly with clear, shallow sea and the coves around Les Rotes or the Cova Tallada nature area are a popular destination for snorkellers and scuba divers.
Dénia sits at the feet of the Montgó mountain, which protects it from the hot winds in summer and provides the town with a microclimate and an average annual temperature of 19C. The Montgo nature park is great for walking and horse-riding and golfers have La Sella, one of Blanca's best courses, 7km from the town.
In the old town, there are regular markets including the daily fish auction, stalls along the main palm-lined Cervantes Explanade and in summer the area around the ancient castle becomes an open air music venue. Dénia's marina is another hub of life, with restaurants and bars for all tastes.
Dénia is a popular place for holiday homes owned by British families and there is a good rental market herre. There is a wide range of luxurious new developments around Dénia, with two-bed apartments from £120,000 and duplexes from £140,000. Large luxury villas in areas near Dénia such as Las Marinas start at around £250,000. New townhouses on spacious developments with sharing pools and other facilities cost from £120,000.
