MALAGA AIRPORT As the main gateway to the golden beaches of the Costa del Sol to the south and Costa Tropical further east, Malaga airport saw 13½ million people flood through its doors last year. Although Spain’s fourth busiest airport it is only equipped with two passenger terminals, one of which handles 95% of the traffic. With a third terminal due to be finished in the next few years its capacity will stretch to 50% above its current limit.

MALAGA AIRPORT ARRIVALS
Flying time from the UK takes between 2½ to 3 hours. Arrivals currently come in via the ground floor of both terminals, which for the majority of people will be Terminal 2, the newer of the two. It contains a bank, cash machine, toilets, tourist information, assorted shops and baggage hall with ten carousels. MALAGA AIRPORT FLIGHTS
As the expat community grows even larger and second home ownership on the Costas increases, demand for flights has also risen. Airlines that fly to Malaga are: Aer Lingus, bmibaby, Britannia, EasyJet, Excel Airways, First Choice, FlyBe, Flyglobespan, Iberia, Jet2, JMC, Monarch.

MALAGA AIRPORT CAR HIRE
For onward travel there are a variety of options. Car hire is a popular choice and as a result there is a wide selection of cars and prices on offer from budget deals through to luxury transportation. Their offices are located either in the terminal or just a short courtesy bus drive away. MALAGA AIRPORT TAXIS
Finding a taxi is just a question of stepping straight outside the arrivals hall and waiting in the queue. Prices are set and a list of tariffs can be found on the wall next to the double doors of the exit. If you plan ahead through the option of a Malaga airport transfer could work out considerably cheaper, particularly if there is a large group of you. The Transfer Store can transport a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 52 people and saves the inconvenience of waiting for a taxi as a driver meets you in arrivals.
MALAGA AIRPORT BUSES
Buses into the centre of Malaga take 20 minutes and run every half an hour between 7.25am and 11.29pm. This is where you need to get to for connections in every direction except Marbella which has a direct route straight from the airport. Fares are very cheap and the bus stop is found 50m to the right as you exit the terminal. For times, click here.
MALAGA AIRPORT TRAINS
The train stop is reached via a ramp outside the first floor departures level. Trains leave every half hour and tickets are purchased from the vending machine. On the far side platform trains go towards Malaga and on the airport side they go in the direction of Fuengirola. For times, click here.
MALAGA PARKING
There are several parking options at Malaga airport. Offered by the airport and closest to it are P1 and P2. While short-term stays are fairly reasonable, anything over a few hours can be pricey and per day it costs over €17. Further out P3 is a free outdoor car park with a courtesy bus service which runs in a circular route and stops at T1, T2 and the cargo terminal. P4 is also free and is located by the suburban train station.
Other companies also offer parking facilities which vary between €5 and €7.50 per day but may include covered parking, insurance, a valeting service and transportation to the airport and have discounts on long-term stays. Companies include: Airport-Park, Easy Parking Malaga, Parking Sur Malaga and Malaga Cars.
