| ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA
The beautiful white village of Arcos de la Frontera is strategically
perched on cliffs above the river Guadalete and surrounded by
large reservoirs. A quieter version of the dramatic Andalucian
town of Ronda, Arcos has a colourful history, as seen when you
wander through its labyrinthine narrow streets and see its monuments
such as the 15th century Moorish castle and sandstone churches.
The surrounding area is a nature lover’s paradise, with
mountain streams, lakes and the National Park of Sierra de Grazalema
20km away.
One of the best locations to see the magnificent views in Arcos
is at the Parador Arcos de la Frontera
You can buy a traditional three-bedroom townhouse in Arcos for
around 120,000 euros. Fincas or villas on the edge of town start
at around 300,000 euros, rising to 600,000 euros plus for typically
Andalucian cortijos (farmhouses). Amid the history, there are
plenty of touches of modernity though, including new developments
of lakeside apartments starting at 78,000 euros.
