PORT D'ANDRATX

This highly exclusive south-western tip of Mallorca is home to many a celebrity, including musicians, artists, sportspeople and, until recently, supermodel Claudia Schiffer. It is also a favourite spot for moneyed expats who live here all year round – clearly those in search of beauty and tranquillity.

The picturesque port is near the most popular villages (and bays) in this part of the island: Cala Llamp and Camp del Mar. Property here is all top-end – mainly luxurious villas with stunning sea views, from 900,000 euros for a 3-bedroom villa and around 3 million euros for a huge country house. Or there are apartments in the middle of the vibrant port, including pretty one-bed apartments in pretty complexes from 195,000 euros and highly designer new two-bedroom apartments for around 450,000 euros or golf-side apartments.

There is also the odd traditional village house or plot of land for sale occasionally in and around Andratx itself, about five minutes inland from the harbour. Village houses tend to be in need of renovation, a popular option with buyers, particular when these properties have stunning views over the countryside and sea.
